Setting and then achieving our goals can be viewed as the root of our personal development. We need to set out to accomplish things and the actual principles of our personal development have been designed to assist us in making sure that our goals are achieved efficiently as well as effectively.
Sometimes though, we set very high goals, and it can seem that we don’t make too much progress in terms of reaching them. If we break those larger goals down into smaller, more achievable goals though, we will see our progress clearly, and that is one of the reasons that it is important to celebrate reaching those little goals.
Stop and Smell the Roses
Or do a crossword puzzle, or watch the birds, or any little thing that will make you smile. The important thing is to take a minute to yourself. Don’t let the stress of daily life get to you, especially when you have just reached one of your goals.
Help Someone Else and Pay it Forward
Helping someone else can be one of the best ways that you can give yourself a warm fuzzy and remember just how lucky you are. This can be something as small as holding the door open for someone who is loaded down, or smiling at a stranger on the street. You never know how much of a difference you can make in someone’s day with just a
smile or a kind word.
Take Notes
We all have negative things that happen to us every day. It can be easy to let those things bog us down. We also have good things that happen to us every day, but they can be difficult to recognize amid all of the negativity. It can be helpful if we write down a single good thing that happens to us each day. You can go back once you reach your goal and remember all of the positive things that happened on your way to reaching it.
Treat Yourself
We see and hear all the time that we need to be healthier, more active, and tighten our financial belts. With all of that and the stress of trying to reach our goals, it can be easy to forget to celebrate the small things and just enjoy living. Have a forbidden snack, go see a movie, have a glass of champagne. Do something to celebrate that will be a treat for you.
